Rambling Mummy Loves...Scented Candles

Christmas is over, all the naughty food is out of the cupboard but it's still freezing cold outside and it's still pitch black by 6pm. I find myself in a desperate hurry in the evenings to get dinner and dishes out of the way, throw on some pjs and fluffy slippers and light some candles.
Along with the warmth and lovely glow, I love the scent that a beautifully fragranced candle gives off.
Here are my top 3 candles that currently grace my hallway, bedroom and lounge.

£23.99
Any self respecting candle lover will admit having a Yankee or two around the house, car, office etc and I am no exception to the rule. Currently gracing the side in my lounge is this beautiful fresh cut roses scented jar candle. In a practical and pretty large glass jar, the smell is exactly what is promised; the gorgeous smell of fresh flowers.

£5.50
This candle and pretty much everything else in this shop is absolutely amazing. Created and hand poured by the owner of the shop, Maryann every single candle in this shop smells like what it says. I've had a few different scented ones over time but this gingerbread men scented candle is absolutely amazing and in a contemporary tin to boot! Providing you can resist the temptation to try and eat this one, it would be a welcome addition to any room.

£10.00
The relaxing scent of lavender and zesty lime are combined for a twist on a classic fragrance. This candle comes in a pretty lidded glass jar, it will make a wonderful addition to any home or a welcome gift to candle loving receipient.

What are some of your favourite scented candles?

100 Happy Days Challenge

Since January I have noticed very simple but beautiful pictures with the hash tag 100 happy days on various social media sites. When I asked what it was all about  I got a very simple response "Post 1 picture for the next 100 days of something that makes you smile; a picture of your kids, their smile, a flower, your pet, even your dinner!"
It's so easy to take the simple things in life for granted that something like this makes you stop and enjoy the little, precious moments in life.

The reason I have put it off for so long is with everything we have going on at the moment I just knew I wouldn't be able to keep up with it but now with our upcoming nuptials, the launch of our new family business around the corner and the children doing so well at school, now is the perfect time for my 100 happy days.

 Day 1

You can keep up with my 100 happy days on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

And the redecorating continues

Every year it has become almost a tradition that in the lead up to Christmas I always managed to find a decorating project in our home to embark upon. This year is no different. Our hallways floor has been down since we moved in in 2008 and as I was pregnant with little monster we just focussed on the rest of the property and a quick coat of paint for the hall. Since then the hallways has survived, 3 children, 4 cats, 3 bikes, 2 scooters, 3 pairs of roller skates, 2 skateboards and lots of guests so we decided that it was about time we treated it to a sprucing up!

I am a firm believer in that you get what you pay for and as I really want the redecoration of the hallway to last we decided that we would spend that bit extra to get some good quality pieces. I love the look of oak and the fact that it’s versatile enough to go with pretty much any colour scheme we opt for. With that in mind I have begun my search for some flooring, a coat rack, sideboard and a shoe rack. I found a site that specialises in oak and pine wood furniture that comes ready assembled, offers finance and even has a price match offer.
I absolutely love this coat rack and think it will look fabulous in the hallway with some gorgeous smelling candles from the One Stop Pamper Shop placed on top and will hopefully put an end to coats being dumped anywhere.
Whilst the idea of sideboards fill me with horrible visions of everyone dumping their rubbish on them we really do need one for the post, bicycle lock keys and hallway lamp to be put on. I didn’t want anything that would be too wide and chunky and take up a lot of space yet I wanted something sturdy and long lasting. This Opus oak hall table is perfect. With 2 storage drawers, a shelf below and space on the top for our lamp and telephone this would be a welcome addition in any home.
As a family of 5 one of my pet hates is the pile of shoes that can collect in the hallway. A pair for school, football boots, trainers, dance shoes, wellies… so a shoe rack is a must and anything that can hide them is even better in my book. This 100% oak shoe cupboard will turn those unsightly piles of shoes into a welcoming sight.
Whilst we argue over colour schemes, artwork and accessories for the hallway, one thing is for sure. we’ll be spoilt for choice with the options of fabulous quality furniture available.

Have you got any decorating plans coming up? Do you and your partner always agree on your re decorating plans?

Rambling Mummy Loves...

Like a lot of people up and down the country, I like to freshen up the house with a lick of paint and some new accessories before the festive season descends upon us.
Despite my fiances best attempts to keep me away from a paint brush I have already mapped out some of my projects for the house this Autumn and spent a lot of time searching for the perfect accessories.
This weeks Rambling Mummy Loves... features some gorgeous household finds.

As we have just purchased a new sofa I couldn't help but search for some new cushions to lavish the sofa with. After searching high and low for something that suited the colour scheme of the lounge and that would be a good fit with the new sofa, I found the perfect cushions in quite an unlikely place.
I discovered these in Wilkinsons of all places and at just £6 each or two for £8.00 there is no reason why you can't buy a few of these, which is exactly what I did...in various shades of green and beige.

As it is getting darker, earlier and we don't have much natural light in our hallway a great way to reflect the light we do have is by using mirrors. We currently have one in our hallway but I am on the lookout for something 'slightly' larger. I'm yet to find one that will work in our hallway but I've found some beautiful ones so far.

This grand renaissance mirror would look fab over a mantle piece and add a touch of decadence to any home. If, unlike me, you have a mantle piece and fancy adorning your home with this beautiful mirror then grab yours now from Dunelm Mill.

Keep those nasty breezes and chills out of your bedroom with some gorgeous curtains. In most rooms in my house we have both curtains and blinds, but I love the cosy, luxurious look and feel of thick lined curtains in the autumn and winter months and they are sure to keep the chills out.

You'll be sure to have sweet dreams with these at your window. These ready made blackout curtains available at Terry's Fabrics are a fab choice to keep the light out for those lazy weekend lie ins but will keep the warmth in.

Do you have plans to jazz up your property before the festive season? I'd love to see your finished projects.
