Weekly Meal Planner

Since being on maternity leave and getting back into a routine I've found that I am able to spend more time in the kitchen and enjoying what I'm actually making.
The kids have been commenting on how much they are enjoying the variety of meals that they are getting and that in itself is reward enough for me.
So, here is this weeks meal planner

Monday
Fajitas, potato wedges and corn on the cob

Tuesday
Chilli con carne, rice, tortilla chips, salsa and salad

Wednesday
Sausage casserole and mash potato

Thursday
Homemade pizzas and salad

Friday
Fish, chips and mushy peas

Saturday
Bacon and mushroom pasta

Sunday
Full lamb roast

What's on your menu for this week?

100 Happy Days Challenge

Since January I have noticed very simple but beautiful pictures with the hash tag 100 happy days on various social media sites. When I asked what it was all about  I got a very simple response "Post 1 picture for the next 100 days of something that makes you smile; a picture of your kids, their smile, a flower, your pet, even your dinner!"
It's so easy to take the simple things in life for granted that something like this makes you stop and enjoy the little, precious moments in life.

The reason I have put it off for so long is with everything we have going on at the moment I just knew I wouldn't be able to keep up with it but now with our upcoming nuptials, the launch of our new family business around the corner and the children doing so well at school, now is the perfect time for my 100 happy days.

Forget Finding Nemo, this ones about Finding Emma

For a while now I've been feeling a little incomplete and lost. I noticed this feeling slowly creeping up on me when my youngest child started part time nursery last September. To begin with I enjoyed the 3 hours me time and the simple pleasures like completing work on time and enjoying a quiet cup of earl grey without distractions. But after a while I became bored of this, unhappy even.
I have had this overwhelming feeling of not knowing where life is heading and not being happy about it. When I look back at when I felt happiest and complete it was when life was much simpler;when the kids were younger, technology wasn't quite as developed and we weren't trying to keep up with the Jones'.

In order to get back to that place I guess I need to start at the beginning and work from the inside out. I'm not one for self-help books but there was one that caught my eye in a quirky little bookshop in Greenwich. Even though I wasn't looking for one this book just seemed to jump out at me and after closer investigation it seemed almost a perfect fit with how I've been feeling recently.

Ever the sceptic, I reached for the book and began reading the blurb, it claims to be able to 'fix' me. Worth a shot right? I bought the book and am going to give it a go.

I'm not expecting miracles or even major changes but if this book can help me with even the baby steps I'll be on the right track.

Look out for updates on my progress.

Do you believe self-help books can really help us make changes? Or do you think they are just contrived drivel?
