The popcorn boxes are reusable so that's a one time outlay so my spend per box was roughly £1.10 this time which I am over the moon about.</div><div><br></div><div>What do you take to the cinema to help keep costs down but still feel like you're indulging?</div><div><br></div><div><i> <b>M xx</b></i></div><div><br></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14739047165205995361noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8147336380622790786.post-37072406316462767582017-02-13T21:38:00.001+00:002017-02-13T21:38:35.168+00:00Weekly Meal PlannerSo this week it's half term! I've decided to keep the weekly post but instead of reviewing 3 products, I will be rambling about the things I couldn't live without this past week.</span><br />
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">

<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
Silicone 360 shockproof Iphone case</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
I have had loads of orders for my personalised keepsakes this week so I have spent a hell of a lot of time painting. In the process, my phone has taken a battering. Fortunately I invested in a silicone 360 shockproof case and it has been amazing. It's wipe clean surface means I have been able to clean all of the paint of it with ease and the shockproof aspect has really been useful for the amount of times I've knocked it off the table! </div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">

Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Exfoliating Scrub</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
I'm really trying hard to make an effort with my skin and it's really starting to pay off. Other than drinking litres of water a day I've started using my Nivea wash as part of my daily face care routine and it has made a huge difference. My skin is softer, brighter and has considerably less blemishes.</div>

Ultra Fine Black Sharpie</div>
<div style="color: #454545; font-family: UICTFontTextStyleBody; font-size: 17px; text-decoration: -webkit-letterpress;">
This has literally been my best friend this week. From my bullet journal to shopping list, personalised keepsakes to signing the kids diaries, this pen has been practically attached. It doesn't smudge, doesn't bleed and writes on pretty much anything. Who doesn't love a Sharpie?</div>

<div>
Every playgroup that I have visited with Sofia or play date she has had she has spent most of the time there ignoring all forms of company and playing with the toy kitchen so for us it was a no brainier that we would get her one for Christmas.</div>
<div>
Despite the IKEA kitchen being value for money, sturdy and popular, I just knew that the standard kitchen was never going to do. With that in mind I set about gathering some ideas and armed with my mood board off I went to B&Q. Find out how I transformed Sofia's bog standard IKEA play kitchen into a kitchen prettier than mine!</div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I started off my removing all of the items from the box that I wanted to spray gold(handles, feet, cooker, washing up bowl, hanging hooks and pole. I laid them out on cardboard and gave them each an even coat of gold spray paint. Once dry this had to be repeated a couple of times to get an even finish.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Next I removed the oven, microwave and cupboard doors from the packaging and sanded each one down on both sides. Not a full on sanding but enough to take the sheen off the wood and give the paint a better base. Once done, we covered the edges of the windows on the microwave and oven doors with masking tape to avoid paint ending up on the Perspex. Now the bit I was dreading, paint one side of each door and leave to dry, repeat another 2 times and then do the same for the other sides so that both sides of each door have had 3 coats and you are happy with the finish. Don't forget the edges too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I found covering the 'work surface' quite therapeutic. We opted for a wood effect sticky back vinyl. I measured how much roughly I would need(don't forget to allow for the overlap) and laid the work surface down. Slowly peel back a little of the backing paper and align with the wooden work surface. Once happy, slowly start to smooth the vinyl over the wood using a clean tea towel until the top is completely covered. Now turn the work surface over and where the holes for the washing up bowl and cooker are, you should see the sticky side of the vinyl. Carefully cut a 'x' through the exposed vinyl, towards the edges and then fold over so it adheres to the underside of the work surface. Once completed, it should look a little something like this...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Now the easy part, following the instructions in the box put the kitchen together!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I had a piece of foam board which I covered with a white washed exposed brickwork wallpaper sample and then attached that to the back of the kitchen using tacks. To finish of the look I purchased 3 battery operated push on lights and using the adhesive pads they come with, attached them to the underside of the microwave and hey presto....a kitchen fit for a princess!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
All of the links to or info on products I used are below.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
If you have up cycled a children's IKEA kitchen, I'd love to see it!</div>

At 6.5 litres capacity we certainly don't struggle to fit meals into it. The toughened glass lid is great for checking on our food without having to remove it and the removable ceramic bowl is great to use as a serving dish. There are 3 heat settings which are easy to choose from using the dial. At the moment I've only had chance to use this for functional family meals, however, I have a huge list of fun recipes compiled that I can't wait to try out.</span></div>

House work done, laundry always sorted, house always clean and tidy, routine, structure, schedule...The perfect family... WRONG!!!!!<div>Maternity leave hasn't quite gone to plan. Whilst I knew having a baby during the summer holidays would turn summer into one big blur, I also knew that once September came and I could instill structure and routine, things would be lovely, bliss if you like but that really hasn't been the case. With my eldest son in his final year of primary school I have done 13 school tours at 11 schools across three boroughs. We've had my mother-in-law in intensive care for two weeks, a baby who is back-and-forth at the baby clinic because her weight gain has been in the words of her paediatrician 'sub optimal', a leaky roof that has been a disaster to get sorted, a new street door and frame being fitted, a cooker that broke down and was repaired only for my husband to smash the top of the cooker at the very next day and a seriously stroppy teenage daughter.</div><div>This isn't quite what I had planned. </div><div> It's hard to believe that in just 5 months my maternity leave will be over and I will be leaving my adorable baby and going back to work. If I could rewind the time I would go back to the beginning when baby was first born and start all over again but I can't so moving forward I guess I have to be realistic and roll with the punches as it were.</div><div>It's so easy to let things get on top of you, overwhelm you and make you forget exactly why and who you are<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"> doing all of this for which is definitely what has happened to me.</span></div><div>So after a few deep breaths (and more than a few cursewords), I refuse to let things defeat me. I am going to have a long soak in the bath reevaluate everything and get right back on track.</div><div>I look at my kids and I know that despite my off days or weeks, I'm doing something right and I need to keep doing it for them.</div><div><br></div><div>Have a lovely weekend everyone.</div><div><br></div><div>M xx</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14739047165205995361noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8147336380622790786.post-58283532828548724472015-10-27T12:34:00.001+00:002015-10-27T12:34:36.488+00:00Chocolate Covered MarshmallowsThe week before any school holiday I always find to be quite hectic and last week was definitely no exception. <div>Meet the teachers, open classes, trip meetings, black history social evening, tracking day and more, so when my 6 year old reminded me that there was a PTA cake sale and I needed to make something I knew I needed a quick and easy recipe. </div><div><br></div><div>A little while back I made chocolate marshmallows with little monster and I knew these would be the quickest and simplest thing to make.</div><div><br></div><div>I haven't included measurements as you will be able to judge how much you need based on how many you want to make.</div><div><br></div><div><b>You will need</b></div><div>Marshmallows</div><div>Cooking chocolate</div><div>Bamboo skewers(yes that really is it!)</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xuwsQ5Ru03E/Vi9vT-fTkoI/AAAAAAAABKg/5sASZ8YOqs8/s640/blogger-image-1139249601.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xuwsQ5Ru03E/Vi9vT-fTkoI/AAAAAAAABKg/5sASZ8YOqs8/s640/blogger-image-1139249601.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div><b>What to do</b></div><div>Thread 3 or 4 marshmallows(depending on size) on each bamboo skewer until you have the desired amount</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ZBiyff1ndSY/Vi9vSJZFwII/AAAAAAAABKY/VN0_Z-Xsz9E/s640/blogger-image-1266659223.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ZBiyff1ndSY/Vi9vSJZFwII/AAAAAAAABKY/VN0_Z-Xsz9E/s640/blogger-image-1266659223.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Melt the chocolate (you can either do this in a microwave but make sure you stop and stir it every 10 seconds or so or you can melt it in a bowl over simmering water)</div><div><br></div><div>Once the chocolate is melted, give it a good stir then start to coat all of the marshmallow skewers in the chocolate.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-9cDIflPASnE/Vi9vUyIvo9I/AAAAAAAABKo/s7i1v1umv2M/s640/blogger-image-1114953313.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-9cDIflPASnE/Vi9vUyIvo9I/AAAAAAAABKo/s7i1v1umv2M/s640/blogger-image-1114953313.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Lay on a sheet of baking paper until completely dry and hard. </div><div>We had some sprinkles in the cupboard so added those before the chocolate dried.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5gx2XBAK_Ag/Vi9vWkM-e-I/AAAAAAAABKw/NZAwHYATZkk/s640/blogger-image--1319957849.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5gx2XBAK_Ag/Vi9vWkM-e-I/AAAAAAAABKw/NZAwHYATZkk/s640/blogger-image--1319957849.jpg"></a></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>That's all there is to it. 3 items and 3 steps and you have a sellout treat(these sold out at our cake sale in less than 3 minutes)</div><div><br></div><div>Have fun!</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14739047165205995361noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8147336380622790786.post-17483432232666039782015-10-26T11:12:00.001+00:002015-10-26T11:13:05.868+00:00Weekly Meal PlannerOk, so last week was a disaster! We had an impromptu school meeting, a few Dr's appointments, the hospital admission of a relative, 2 children struck with gastro-enteritis and I had 3 consecutive nights of no sleep!<div>One of my saving graces was having my meal plan to fall back on to help keep some kind of normality. I've noticed that since starting meal planning again I am visiting the supermarket less, spending less money and there is a lot less food waste.</div><div>This week is set to be another busy one but with some good old family favourites and quick meals hopefully we'll get through.</div><div><br></div><div><b>Monday</b></div><div>Spaghetti Bolognese and garlic bread </div><div><br></div><div><b>Tuesday</b></div><div>Beef stir fry</div><div><br></div><div><b>Wednesday</b></div><div>Jacket potatoes with various fillings </div><div><br></div><div><b>Thursday</b></div><div>Ham, egg and chips </div><div><br></div><div><b>Friday</b></div><div>Pizzas and tortilla chips</div><div><br></div><div><b>Saturday </b></div><div>Fried chicken, homemade wedges, coleslaw and salad</div><div><br></div><div><b>Sunday</b></div><div>Homemade chicken and vegetable pie, new potatoes and seasonal roasted vegetables </div><div><br></div><div>What are your stress free, go to meals?</div><div><br></div><div><b><i>M xx</i></b></div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14739047165205995361noreply@blogger.com0
